Julie Roth Novack CEO Partyslate

Inspiring Digital Creative Julie Roth Novack of PartySlate

We are so excited to share our interview with inspiring digital creative Julie Roth Novack of PartySlate! In 2015, she left her digital agency job and co-founded PartySlate, a Houzz-inspired, content-rich online platform geared for people planning events and for leading event companies to showcase their work. Our PartySlate profile features event galleries, SEO-friendly FAQs, team member profiles, videos, press and more. It is a great tool for connecting with other vendors when we are planning a party and getting in touch with new clients from all over the world. In the time of COVID, our industry was hit hard and Julie began hosting digital marketing webinars every week to help her network with branding, inclusivity, optimizing social profiles and so much more. She is a huge advocate for the event community, and we LOVE learning from her and working alongside her and the rest of the PartySlate team, including catering for the PartySlate LA launch party!

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

I check my email and grab a cup of coffee! I need my morning caffeine before a full day of PartySlate zooms.

What’s your all-time favorite movie?

This is a tough question! I love Jerry Mcguire, Moonstruck and The Fugitive. I have probably seen each of these movies at least 20 times.

What’s one thing you love about the event industry?

I love the creativity and close collaboration that is unique to this industry. Everyday we see beautiful events from all over the world posted to PartySlate.

Tell us about your pet(s).

I’m a first-time dog owner, and I have to say I now understand why people go crazy over their pets. I love Ace, our little miniature poodle! During this work from home time, Ace is by my side most of the day. I call him my shadow because anytime I move he jumps up to follow me.

What’s your day-to-day look like right now?

Every morning I have a stand-up meeting on zoom with my leadership team at PartySlate to review top priorities, new product features we are launching and how to clear potential roadblocks. Since we are working remotely, we are over communicating to ensure we are all aligned. Most days I’m having customer meetings, planning sessions with our tech or marketing teams or presenting on webinars. I love sharing my 25-plus years of digital marketing experience with this industry. We just hosted our 22nd digital event last week. We have received great feedback from the event professional community that we are helping them build stronger digital brands during this very difficult time.

What’s your favorite quote to live by?

Eleanor Roosevelt: “Do one thing that scares you every day.”

It took me five years to gain the confidence to leave my 20-plus year digital agency career behind to start PartySlate. I have never looked back. Everyday I’m pushing myself out of my comfort zone to do new things to help our event professional community build stronger digital brands and grow their businesses.

Describe your favorite meal.

I just attended a small social-distanced dinner party where they served sushi and steak. It was amazing. I could have sushi every night of the week.

Where do you look for inspiration?

I’m inspired by strong female entrepreneurs who have served as role models for me both within the events industry and in the tech world. Pauline Parry is one of those role models who taught me so much about the events world and recruited me to join the WIPA board of directors. She is an inspiration, a connector, a mentor and a thought leader in our industry.

I’m also inspired every day to see the creativity of this industry even during the toughest times. Last week, an event planner in Los Angeles posted our 800,000th photo to their PartySlate profile. I remember just a few years ago when we only had 10,000 photos. It is so exciting to see how our platform is helping small businesses around the world share their work, build their brand and grow their business.

Name three things you can’t live without.

I’m a complete geek – my iphone, my MacBook Pro laptop and airpods.

Where can we find you?
