This week we interviewed one of our absolute favorite women to work with, Sarah Zahran of XO Bloom! She is a powerhouse of event knowledge and creative energy. Specializing in floral and event design background, she co-opened the brick-and-mortar XO Bloom shop in Westlake Village in 2015. It’s a special retail experience that houses a design-it-yourself flower bar, floral delivery services, classes and a consultation space. Outside of the retail space, Sarah works with a variety of high-profile clients onsite, building stunning floral activations and bringing celebrations to life.
Keep scrolling to see some photos of the Bloomin’ Into Summer event Sarah hosted at her shop in Westlake Village. The event showcased vibrant XO Bloom florals throughout the space. We customized catering and cocktails designed to match the colors and tantalize the palates. Each place setting was personalized with handmade “Lulu” corsages, a signature of XO Bloom, and hand-painted napkins as place cards!
What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
Check my phone for early texts from my floral suppliers and a little social media browsing before I jump out of bed.
What’s your all-time favorite movie?
Mary Poppins, the original.
What’s one thing you love about the event industry?
The events community is an amazing industry to be a part of. You find resources and support, and it’s always a team effort. Aside from my friendors, I love working closely with families and couples in making their vision into a reality. The best part is seeing a big smile on their face and tears of joy when the job is done.
Tell us about your pet(s).
We have three baby red-eared slider turtles: Shrek, Mikey Angelo and Tiny Diamond. We built a pond for them in the yard during the stay-at-home order.
What’s your day-to-day look like right now?
I am so happy to be working and bringing fresh flowers straight to our customers doors and getting to the shop and prepping for the day/week with our team by assisting customers, answering emails, preparing proposals …the grind.
Can’t wait for weddings and events to be back in full swing.
What’s your favorite quote to live by?
This is what I currently live by during this pandemic:
“In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity.” – Albert Einstein
Describe your favorite meal.
I love good sushi–ahi Tuna roll is my fave! I also love me some tikka masala.
Where do you look for inspiration?
Nature and interior design is the best place to find floral and event design inspiration.
Name three things you can’t live without.
My fancy nails! I love a good bio gel mani and pedi and a pop of color on my lips ?
